'Hot' center console - 335i 6MT

Just picked up my car in the fall so I don't know how it behaves in summer with the A/C but I've noticed that the center console (under the shifter between the seats) get very hot. Enough that I have to limit how long my right knee rests against the console when driving.

Anyone else experienced this?

Mine gets hot there too. I can feel the heat when I put my hand near the shifter. I assumed it was heat coming from the vents that heat the armrest cabinet. Don't really know, but seems like a logical reason.

I had the same experience with my 328 xi 6MT.

It went away after a couple of thousand miles, so I put it down to increased heat production in the gearbox during break-in.

Try opening the heat vents in the rear of the console. This may vent the heat through to the rear seats.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give the vents a try.

That's controlled by the hot/cold mix wheel that controls the back seat too, yes?

The transmission tunnel definitely gets hot during really long highway trips. I believe this is normal.

Unhappy

Hey. I have a 320d e90 and have been experiencing something very similar recently. The center console gets almost so hot I cannot touch it. I've been worrying about gearbox problems. Had the clutch replaced about 5k ago. Anyone figure out a definite reason for this yet?
