Lock beep is barely audible

So the wife is nagging me about this and before I call the dealer, I figured I would check here first. When you lock the car, the locking beep can be heard about 5 feet from the car. The other 7 BMW's I had you could hear it at least 15-20 feet away. It is not like I want the world to hear my BMW but sometimes I forget to use the comfort access and use the remote while walking away. With two kids I would prefer to just hear the beep and watch the kids instead of focusing on if the car is locked. Does anybody else notice this or is the beep on my m3 a bull horn compared to the X5.
