E92/93 vs F30

Being new to this forum, I know that this question will sound stupid and elemental, but, here goes; Can someone please tell me exactly what 3-series models/years fall into the E92/93 designation and which ones fall into the F30 category? What are the differences between the two model designations? I have a 2012 335is coupe...............E93 or F30?

You have to look at the year as well. For example a 2010 335i sedan is a E90, but a 2013 335i sedan is an F30. A 2010 335i Convertible is an E93, but so is a 2013 335i convertible.

E92.


New sedans are introduced first. They are the F30. Coupes and 'verts follow one or two years later.

Model years 2007 - 2013 coupes and 'verts are still on the previous body styles and platforms. They are E92 and E93, respectively. The coupe and 'vert E92/93 328 models still have the N52 inline six motor, not the new N20 turbo charged four cylinder.

The 2014 model year coupes (and most likely 'verts) will be the F32 (and F33).

That will be one of the very last E92s. E92 production ends July of 2013 so they can switch the line over to F32 production. We recently got a first look at the side of the 2014 4 series F32 coupe, check out the comparison to the E92 here -

To confuse matters more the 3 series coupe and convertible E92/E93 are becoming the 4 series coupe and convertible F32/F33. BMW is splitting the 3 series product line into 3 series sedans/tourings and 4 series coupe/convertible to line up with the 5 and 6 series as well as the coming 2 series coupe and convertible.
