Panoramic roof preventative maintenance?
I have a 2005 X5 and have had very little problems with the roof – I once confused it when I pushed the button over and over trying to quickly close it in a rain storm, but a reset fixed it. After reading the thread on fixing suck roofs (and the crazy repair costs) I find myself wondering what I should do as preventative maintenance. I think before I go cleaning and lubing it like crazy, I would ask if there is a proper (or wrong) way of doing it. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Yes I am wondering with you. I am afraid of using it as they told me that if it stuck due to fault in mechanism it will cost you much

Thats a good question. I'm gonna go with what you said- clean and lube. I just dont know what im going to use yet. Probably motor grease on the track. Im not going to be afraid to use it worrying about failure. Its there and i enjoy having it open
