It's lifter tick. I'm not sure if it is serious on the M44/2 but us M50 folks usually ignore it.
Try changing your oil.

that looks like an m40, 1.6??
valve lifters are hydraulic, and not adjustable. if the mileage looked correct, you have 274k kilometrs. these things do not last forever. you could try some lucas oil treatment to see if that quiets them, but you may very well be looking at replacing them. i would do the entire set, though, if the oil treatment doesn't help. cd2 is also a good product, but not sure if available in your neck of the woods. df

no, not really 'urgent' in the sense that it will cause a no start or leave you strandd. it'll just make lots of racket.
you could always turn the radio up.. ![]() df

well, you're not planning on driving across the continent, are you??
you probably should be ok, as lifter noise in not uncommon on higher mileage engines. most guys runn a thicker oil to quiet things down. df

If it is a noisy lifter (and it does sound like it) it will be fine.

It's helpful because you could do a SEARCH in this sub forum for LIFTER and you would have gotten tons of info.
