Tow Hitch License Plate Holder

Using the modbargains X5 tow hitch license plate holder with the 3” offset, I purchased a piece of sheet metal and cut a template just long enough to shift the plate over even further, as, on my 2013 X6, the original offset would not clear the collision detection sensor closest to the tow hitch opening, even after vertical adjustment.

Using a standard license plate frame from bmw was a good enough outer border, and the back support provided by modbargains was perfect to use as a guide to mark and drill the holes in my sheet metal. I used a dremmel to smoth out the edges of the sheet metal, and a standard drill with a metal bit to make the holes. The installation instructions are identical to those for the X5, once you have the elongated metal support plate.
