Ignition-activated power source

Can anyone tell me how I can hook up my radar detector to an ignition-activated power source?

The socket in the front center console between the cup holders is ignition activated.

I believe the socket is deactivated after 8 minutes.

You're right the connection does turn off after a few minutes. Just wondering if there's an immediate disconnect when the ignition is turned off.

There are none that I'm aware of. Everything goes to "sleep" in 8 minutes, so that ensures everything is powered down. Should be no problem for a radar detector running for another 8 minutes off the battery--a drop in the bucket.

FYI. I got it to work fine using a fuse splitter in fuse #48 thru the glove box.
