All I know is that I don't like the YELLOW on my 09, its ugle and doesn't look classy. Too bad it seems so difficult to change out.

Not that hard to change. It's been done by many. That's what this thread is all about.

Bump from a century ago because I too ordered the LUX V3 H8's.
Can't wait to get them installed!

![]() I think you will be very happy with the purchase. Install tip: Have some pliers handy to hold on where your hand is too big to fit into that space where little bavarian elves that live in trees assembled the headlight units. Of course, you work at a dealership where you already know all the secrets. Please share!

Ok, the tech who put my lights in said the secret to putting in the lights is to not do it by hand. You grab wrench or prong of some kind and position it and turning it. He was done in five minutes. Pics to come soon!

Hey Hot, have the body shop check out the hood alignment, there seems to be a huge gap between the hood and the grille. Or did the tech accidently slam it on a forgotten socket wrench?

Question for those of you who DIYed the H8 bulbs.
The video posted earlier shows the right hand bulb being released by turning clockwise when viewed from the front. Does the left hand bulb also rotate towards the interior I.e. counter clockwise, or does it rotate in the same direction as the right hand bulb? I have a set of lux H8 5000k on order. Thanks. Ok, I have pics comparing my sisters OEM Angel eyes and my LUX. Problem is, pictures are huge. How should I size them?

It does not show the left side bulb removal, hence the question. Anybody know? |

I believe it's the same direction as the right one.

Great comparison pics, HI. One of the biggest differences between the pre-LCI and post LCI angel eyes is the actual design of the halo, which in the post LCI distributes the light very effectively. I still maintain that as far as aftermarket choices go, the LUX H8 does a pretty respectable job when stacked against the OEM version, and your pics should help future researchers on the topic.

I also have pair of soft-jawed cable pliers to coax them into place once the lugs align, if I need to. Last edited by MMME30W; 12-03-2012 at 05:51 PM. |

Not much to add to the DIY but they are PITB to install. I took the time to scribe a line with a black sharpie at the "top" of the fitting lugs on each of the finned area of the Lux so I could see how to align them. Yes, both halogen H8 bulbs released after rotating a quarter turn clockwise when viewed from the front of the car. I was worried the 5000K would not be "white" enough but I am well pleased with the result. It may be because of the huge change over the yellow halogen color too lol. Overall despite the difficulty of the install (and I've rebuilt ZHP headlights, so I know what I'm talking about when I say it was a PITB ) I would definitely recommend Lux H8.Much appreciate all the helpful suggestions, and to Kat for keeping all this in one place.
