Water trickling noise from AC vents and water spray!!

I have been hearing a water trickling sound from the instrument panel...the vents basically.

The sound does not go away when you turn off the AC, but it does go away if you turn off the entire system.

When you turn the fan to HIGH, it blew water out the vents!! I should say liquid, I assume water...no odor.

2007 550i.

Any ideas? I am about to call my local Indy shop and ask them.

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about and you need to be careful otherwise you are looking at frying your head unit(this happened to me). I would not use the AC until the issue is resolved. That water in the vents will likely get into the electronics in the dash and fry something, likely the head unit. This happened to me twice on long, hot drives. On the second instance it fried the head unit(radio). And if it does fry it you are looking at upwards of $1500-$2k for replacement.

The only "solution" I heard about was that it had something to do with the throttle cable and it was actuating something. The solution is to tie wrap the throttle cable. There is a apparently a SB on it. My memory is foggy on it so I wouldn't take what I said as gospel.

Good luck!

I have the same problem. 08 535 with 78k. With the AC on low sometimes it sounds like a babling brook. It literally sounds just like water trickling. If I hit MAX, it blows hard like it should but will blow out droplets of water. It eventually stops blowing the water. If I turn it back to low the running water sound stops for a while but might come back. I cant imagine what in the world would make it sound like running water. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I would assume the drain for the condensation off of the evaporator is clogged.

Check and see if you're getting water dripping under the car when the AC is on. You should. If not, it's definitely clogged.

Yea. The drain is clogged. It has a flap on the end that sticks shut.

The drain hose is next to the exhaust behind heat shields. I flipped it up and a cup of water came out.

There is a bulletin on it. This happened to my 2010 528i as soon as it was redelivered after ED. Took it in and they replaced the hose plug.

Thanks guys, I will check this later this evening. Can you tell me again exactly where it is located and how hard it is to get to?

Check this thread out.
Note the pdf and what it contains.
This is probably the issue.
