delayed cranking on start up?
Looking for help on my daughters 99 328i she is having trouble when starting, turns key to start position all dash lights come on but does not crank, no sound, holds in that position for several seconds then it cranks and fires up, sometimes she has to do it this routine a number of times. Sometimes if I hookup a battery charger/starter under the hood to her remote battery post it will fire up and sometimes no? Ideas Thanks in advance.

Mine was doing this... Replaced the battery and it hasn't done it since.

do the following:
1- check the voltage on the battery, if it reads 14v when running it's fine, anything less or equal to 12.5v, u could have a dying battery. 2- if so, disconnect battery, pull the VR off the back of the alternator and inspect the brushes. If they are worn out it'll be pretty obvious, change them 3- recharge the battery and redo point (1)
