2004 745I starting issues
Hi guys,
Got a questions for anybody that can give me some input, highly appreciated. I have a 04 745 I , with 149,000 miles, bought it with 65k a few years back and been doing my own maintanance on her since. A little background: So my starters been acting up for the last 6 months, several times a month i would try to start and would get nothing (no cranking), just a single click sound that seemed to be comming from the glovebox. after several attemps of removing key she would fire up normally, so I assummed the starter was just getting stuck. This past Friday I get in the car after work crank her up she starts right up then dies after 5 seconds WTF, crank her again she starts up and dies after a few seconds. I try a third time and now she just wont fire up (she cranks just wont turn over. I asked around and was told to check the pressure on the fuel rail, whitch I did and im getting like 2.89 bar when i try to crank, then I remove the key and like 30 seconds later the gage spikes to 3.5 bar then back down to 2.89 Fuel pump? Power module? crank sensor? Any help or ideas will be highly appreciated. Thanks |

check your fuel pump, remove back sit, disconnect pump and put wire from spare battery to pump. I think purple and brown (ground ) wires

I got 4 wires going to the pump , 2 thick wires: brown w/yellow stripe and purple w/black stripe. Then I got 2 skiny wires that look black.

Try tapping the starter with a broom handle. It's at the back, bottom of the engine on the passenger side.
