Question About This Beauty

Hello all I'm looking to buy a bimmer and I found this beautiful M3 on craigslist but the post has expired and i didn't get a chance to write down the number. Anyway I was wondering if the stripe on the hood of this M3 is some sort of special edition and if so what is it called? I've looked all over the internet and haven't found another with it. Thanks in advance.

Nope, just something one of the previous owners did.

It does look like a Lux package though which is a good thing. Check the VIN to verify its a real M3 though, WBA= normal BMW, WBS= M.

Yep, just checked.

Its a 98, a genuine M3, and already passed smog so you don't have to do it. It failed in Feb though so it would be interesting find out what repairs were done and how well it passed this time around.

It isn't a lux model, though. Has the twisty side skirts and mesh lower opening in the bumper which was all sport package stuff (provided they're original parts, and not added afterward, which isn't guaranteed by any means). It does have lux seats, but to my knowledge, convertible M3s never came with vaders, so even if you ordered an M3 convertible with the sport package, it still came with the lux seats. I could be wrong, though, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

I'm not sure where the line is between truth and sarcasm in this thread.

I think the lux seats are still different. Mine are basically sport seats with M stitching.

That's what the Lux seats are, sport seats with M colors in the corner.

Good eye Karl, first glance I thought the side skirts were not twisty and forgot all about Lux models having different lower grille.

the "decal" is a aftermarket decal. there is no bmw every that left the factory with those stripes.
