replaced slave cyl 2.5yrs ago mstrcyl went bad 1wk ago now slav bad again mecwants100

Sorry if the title is annoying but I was hoping to fit my situation all in there any way 2.5 yrs ago I replaced my slave cylinder went to my mechanic had it replaced. 1 wk ago the master cylinder went bad and brought it to the same mechanic. Yesterday I get in the car and the same problems all over again not going into gear so I bring it to the mechanic today who thought it may have just been air that need to bleed out turns out the slave cylinder is leaking allover again. Now I have sent this car to the same mechanic for a few other jobs like some kind of oil separation valve and hes not cheap at all but what ever.

So his proposal to fix this was he would put a new salve cylinder in for 100$ but really for being a good loyal costumer I kinda feel that I shouldent have to pay at all given I payed him to put in a new one only 2.5 yrs ago and have brought my car to him frequently for other jobs. Do I sound but hurt or do I sound reasonable to ask him to get in the holiday spirit and do it for free?

You are being unreasonable. He may have installed the slave but he didn't build it. And he doesn't warranty parts, the manufacturer does. Hence, he is not responsible for it failing prematurely. Was this a dealer part or was it some cheap aftermarket part from Pep Boys? If the latter, that is why it failed prematurely. If he bought it, then you might have a case for splitting the cost of installation. If you bought it, then you own it.

He bought the part I figure the only reason it would go bad would be if he did not change the res good when he was messing with the master cyl 2.5 year for a slave to go bad come on no way.

I have found it's generally best to replace both at the same time. I'm surprised your wrench didn't suggest it.

Is he a BMW specialist?

2.5 years is a bit much to expect him to cover the replacement. Is $100 less than what it cost the first time?

As for holiday spirit...I could make the same case for you being generous to him and pay full price for him to install.

Have to agree with the con census posted here ..... Usually indy's can stand behind these kind of repairs for one year max..... Some only give a 90 day . I would jump on the $100 . More then likely the replacement slave cylinder was the issue . To minimize frustration in the future , consider DIY in the future. I have found it to be very rewarding and frustration levels go way down .
