My alternator has sounded like that for the last 20K miles. Sounds like turbo whine from inside the car. When we first got it I did a double check to make certain it was an NA engine.

get some smoke tint spray (not sure exactly what its called) and give it a few light coats

Yes, the deer did quite a bit of damage. The good news is, after my $100 deductible, the car will be getting quite a facelift. Goes to the shop in the morning.

New fender/ quarter panel, new turn signal, repairing and repainting front bumper, new fog lamps (I got to pick them out ), hood repair and repaint, door repair and repaint, wheel alignment.

I was looking for a new front bumper and fog lamps anyways due to some scratches from the previous owner, and I wanted an alignment.

At any rate, once the insurance company cuts the check for the repairs, you can buy an M3 bumper and fog lights from DDM for very little money. They're just as good of quality as OEM, but way less expensive, which means you'll get to pocket the rest.

PO called me and said he found a lip for the M3 and that he was going to deliver it, when he got here he gave me a carbon fiber splitter..

Looks cool but has no holes or clips to attach it...

Found out that the Carbon Fiber hood is a Legit VIS, how much do these go for used?

That looks like the same lip I have. Line it up and start drilling. Make sure you get it perfectly in the middle

Spent the day replacing the fuel filter, the sway bar bushings on the rear, and both CV axles on the 633. One of the two CV axles was way worse than I realized. The boot was torn and the joint was literally falling apart due to wear.

Tomorrow she goes to the alignment shop, then insurance office, and then the DMV for a tag. Eddie's ordering a vanity tag "84 E24".

All I could get a picture of today is the old fuel filter and sway bar bushings. The old CV axles are on their way back to Rockauto as core replacement.

I might get some pix Thursday of the car being aligned.

CV's were that bad 0.o. Does the 6er have an adjustable rear on it (unlike our 36's) just curious if BMW did any that were adjustable back in the day

Rear suspension is non-adjustable. There are kits available to make them adjustable, but it's a weld-in, and pretty complex/lot of work. I've done one. It uses the eccentric bolts and washers from a 5 series.

Some 6ers had automatic air-adjust suspensions. They eventually fail and everyone converts them to springs.

Well, I'm off toward Mobile to make the rounds of insurance, tag and alignment. Report to follow.

No, I have no accidents or claims... The $100 is for comprehensive, an animal collision falls into that category.

I would have LOVED to get an M3 bumper out of it, but the body shop is an "approved" shop from my insurance company, and they deal directly with them. I never even see a check. If they do find damage to my bumper that cannot be fixed, they will replace it... then I will get the M3 bumper. (fingers crossed )

I have $0 deductible comp on my cars. It's served me well, I'm unlucky with things happening to me.

I balance it out with a high collision deductible.

633 on the alignment rack....they wouldn't let us in the shop area. Best shot I could get was this one. Insured, titled and tagged, and alignment done. BIG difference in driveability. No more wandering around on uneven pavement.

My thought exactly. If that's the case, I must be an incredibly trustworthy mechanic.

There is a multi-day waiting list to get alignments there.

BTW, this is Eddie's new car tag, except it's a "Helping Schools" Alabama tag rather that the generic statewide one shown. I'm going to try and get 85 E24 for my sixer.

Yeah, I had assumed he was referring to a $100 collision deductible, which is super low and jacks up the monthly premiums. My collision deductible is $1k, but alas, I've never been in an accident because of my super powers.

I share those powers. Accident and ticket free.

But I'm a dude under 25 so who cares how good I am, I still pay quite a bit.
