Deflection pulley sheared

It Looks like my Deflection Pulley has sheared off (found after the battery light came on
The car is an E91 330D Sport 2006.

Anyone seen this before or how it can be fixed

Is that the pulley from the device which maintains tension on the belt, or is that the pulley which is there to allow the belt to change direction? Either way, yes I have seen it, more on the tensioner pulley than the other (idler) pulley. But I have not seen the problem more on BMWs than any other marque. It is almost always caused by an overtightened bolt subjected to a lot of vibration combined with high lateral load.
You got unlucky. The upside is that it is an easy fix if you have the tools to get the broken off piece out of the block.
