I see 300zx's all the time tricked out ready for drifting. I don't see why I can't do this to my bimmer. I've seen track 325's but not really any drifters using them. I'd love to hear feedback for what you think of this idea. BMW is by far the best handling car I've ever driven so I don't get why I couldn't set it up to be the best corner sliding car out there.

Cost, parts availablity, and know how are the main reasons you dont see BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Lambo, etc.(you get the point) on the drift circuit.

mabye I should just trade my bimmer for that tricycle that little girl is riding in your signature. Looks like a drift machine
but yea, I don't really plan to take my car to circuit, but it would be nice to have the handling of a drift car. I figure a nice set of coilovers and lower gears should do some good. I want to sell my current bimmer and get the same car but with a standard. I can't find a e36 conversion kit cheap enough to convince me to do it instead of just start fresh with what I really want. |

depends...i dont have 325 power...i got a 318....i cant drift my car unless roads are wet....and i think same for most bmw's...they are too good for drifting and have too much grip hahah
but i now it would be possible....just alot of $$$...plus the 50/50 weight wouldnt be helping either....bottom line...if u have the money...do it...show those JDM wut DTm is all about... but then again drift is just show...like drag racing....just show...BMW is not a drag racer...thats y u dont see 300zx's winning touring car championchips... They are difffernt cars....but anything is possible

I have a '91 silvia and I just bought a '94 325is and I must say, I like driving the BMW alot more, but it's far from a drift car. And Alphine- if this is best handling car you've ever driven go get your hands on a 240SX. You'll be blown away. I could see my E36 being used for drifting possible after alot of suspension work, weight reduction, and a good set of tires. But who would want to drift a car that costs that much to repair? Not me.

true to everything said, I agree with the car sticking to the road almost too good. I figure with some basic coilovers and some engine mod's, I can have a pretty awesome all around car. But with that said, we all know sliding around a turn is some fun stuff.

I'm looking to do a similar set up on my 94 325i but I am going to do the m60 swap because of the lack of power from the m50...but I am having trouble finding suspension parts so that I can have 100% adjusting control

Really? Aftermarket fully adjustable suspension components for the E36 chassis are practically falling out of trees... Must not be looking in the right places.
