Rear wiper doesnt turn off?
Struggling to find any past threads, but I have a problem in that once Ive used my rear wiper, it never turns off again, and just keeps wiping intermitantly untill I turn of the ignition and 'reset' it. Works reliably like this, but its just a bit of a pain!
This is by pushing the wiper stalk away, which wipes and runs the washer jet motor while its pressed, then going onto this intermitant mode I dont seem to be able to turn off. Up does intermitant, slow, and fast wipe on the front wipers. Down is press and hold for main wipers. Forwards is press and hold for front wash and wipe. Daniel |

You didn't tell what year or model E36 you have, but since you're asking about a rear wiper I'm going to apply my psychic powers and say you have a touring.
![]() I'd suspect it's the wiper control module that's the issue.

Yup, for some reason the fest now blocks links to BMWfans.
Don, put it in a Tinyurl instead of a hotlink and it will post.

Dissected the correct link out of the mess
http:// bmwfans DOT info/parts/catalog/61358369474/ Seems to be about £15 on ebay, im the UK, any confirmation on this being the issue, fixeable? Is it a known or common issue, or will I find one in a scrapyard? Is it easy to get to? Daniel Last edited by d_hutch; 12-13-2012 at 10:50 AM. Reason: making the link display ok |

![]() Seriously though, it seems the most likely culprit, then a sticking relay would be the next suspect, then the wiper motor. In both RealOEM and BMWfans it's just grouped in with a bunch of other modules without an exploded diagram of where it's located. I haven't had to replace one so I'd only be guessing the location.....
