Thank you cj.surr , I will probably go with those 205/60's i can just modify it later when i have more dollar signs =P
@drivinfaster - I know those 16" are good for show but i just got these retro 15" and painted them so i wont be parting with them but in the future i see 17"s |

hey guys i am just inquiring ,
I seem to take of slower and hit a slightly higher rev when i accelerate if i match up 205/60's on the front with 215/60's on the back will this equalize this and bring me revs down a bit and shift up smoother? i have a auto but i have been told my set up is tricking my engine into thinking its going up hill. |

The important thing is that the overall diameter is identical side to side. Front to back won't hurt it, even on more sensitive models like the E39 that monitors wheel speed deltas much more intensely.
You're a tad under and inch less diameter up front. I wouldn't worry much about it now, but you should get the same when you replace them. Sent from my Galaxy Tab using BimmerApp

changing to larger tires
im thinking changing to larger tires up front has anyone got an idea of wether 215/60 R15" will fit on the front set of my e36 318i ? will this fitt with space to steer safely?
Or should i go smaller at the back? I do like the beefy bulge at the back but not ertain. |

I currently have 215/60 R15" at the back
195/60 R15" at the front I feel like it takes a longer to gain speed than it did orginally with even sets but will having 215/60 R15" all round effect the speed or will it help |

What is this thread even about? I'm so confused right now.
And e30s can still rock the 15s, just for the record. Yes, that comment was the only thing I understood in all of this.

The ones on your E30 are 16" aren't they, Amber?
And, oh hey!

You know, I'm not actually sure. Next to Ash, they all look tiny.
I think they may be 15s, I'll check tomorrow.

Go here:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Enter your original tire size in the left side (205/60/15) and then enter the wheel size you want to use. Change the tire cross section and aspect ratio until the error in the line below the diagram is minimized. Example: 205 60 15 compared to your suggested size of 215 60 15 results in an oversize mismatch of almost 2% too large in diameter. That may or may not be acceptable to you. I have 235 40 17 tires on one of my E36s. They are 1.1% too small compared to stock, which I find acceptable. The other E36 has 205 55 16s, an error of less than 1%.
