Talking E46 run out of gas on half tank

Hi guys I had this problem I run out of gas when my gauge say half tank and my fuel light didn't even came on I did some browsing on the bimmer forums and saw a lot had the same problem well this was the solution replacing the fuel filter by following the diy method it was quite easy under the passenger. Seat by removing some covers I just unscrewed the clamp remove the two hose clamps and replace it with the new one my fuel was very dirty that came out of my old filter I gave it a drive just add a couple litres of gas to monitor and my needle is actually past the quarter tank so I guess problem solve thanks a lot for the info I paid 120 rand south african currency I've also read some guys replaced fuel pumps so if u come across something similiar first replace the fuel filter
