ED Shipping Time
I was thinking of doing ED on my wife's car, but we don't really need or want to drive the car at all, we just want to sign for it and I am guessing I would need to drive it to the port or schedule a company to take it to the port. We are going to Germany either way, so I am thinking why not get the discount price with ED.
My question is once the car is at the port, how long does it usually take to get to your city? My car took about 2.5 weeks to get from bremerhaven to Texas on a regular dealer order, but reading around here it seems like it takes much longer with ED. I am not sure if it takes longer because of where people drop off their cars or if it just takes longer in general. |

My recent ED took 7 weeks from drop off in Munich to arrival at my dealer. It was on a ship within a week of drop off and probably lost a week in NY due to Sandy.

I had a friend whose ED took 8 weeks, 5 days this summer from drop-off to redelivery.
My first ED took exactly 30 days (woot!) in the spring of '09. My second ED is in process. She was on a boat leaving port a week exactly from when I dropped her off. We'll see total timeline. Luck and timing are totally a factor. Probably also time of year and the number of other cars being dropped off. Quote:
The three cars I've custom ordered (non-ED) in my life have all taken about 90 days to arrive - two from Germany and one from Japan. My wife's Porsche Cayenne this summer took 86 to be exact (I know this because she was counting).

Several post docking processes (Ag inspection, US Customs, ...) are much different on ED cars in contrast to US delivery cars, thereby occasionally adding significant delays.
