Take over Alpina Lease

Time to say good bye to my B7. It comes with Byern wheels and snows, plus the original Alpina wheels and tires. The lease payment is about $2450 and it goes another 20 months (around 8/14). I will pay $500 a month for the rest of the lease in a bulk payment at closing (so that would be $10K presently). The car is on Swap-A-Lease. The B7 has every option avaiilable except night vision. Be careful of any lease trader, I talked to Jon Shafer over the phone about the best way to upgrade from what I've got. I mentioned those Lease trader sites, and he said that although you do shift the amount owed to the person, the lease is still on your credit. Im relatively younger and thats a concern for me, for someone more established it might not be an issue. Just a heads-up. So if someone defaults, BMWFS will go after the person who took the lease, but apparently it'll get reported on your credit. Crazy

I've been very curious about lease pricing. Can you really lease 3 F02 for the price of what liracer is paying for his alpina??

That's not my understanding with BMWFS. The last transfer I did was earlier this year. All the onus moves to the assumptee. What ChrisF02 mentioned is correct for some other companies. Here is what swapalease lists for BMWFS - "Does Original Lessee Remain Liable? No" - http://www.swapalease.com/help/lease...spx?leaseco=55.

Well my lease payment before taxes and additional mileage is 860.77, not sure if LIRacer is quoting his pre-tax payment. If so I could nearly get three 7ers, if not two comfortably. You can get a steep discount off a 2012 leftover. I got 12k off (85k to 73k - 2k down = so 71k) at the end of August, you could get more off now I'd assume. I'm guessing his sticker was somewhere like 150k?

This was Jon's understanding, and it depends if they consider potentially affecting the first owners credit as being liable. I googled it and found this happened to several Audi owners. Not arguing with you - I've never done this, and I'm curious to see which is correct. I'm interested in trading up so I want to use something like SwapALease if it completely clear me from any financial responsibility.

LIRacer - may want to try posting this on the BMW forums over at Luxury4Play as well. There are some big spenders on that forum and I've seen people take over leases on Masseratis etc.


Re: lease liability assumption - bmw financial passes the full liability along to the new lessee. alot of other auto financiers don't. i can complain all day about bmw dealers and their crap service departments, but i have to admit that bmw financial is one of the easiest to deal with out of all the mfgr's in house financial departments. their loyalty rates are excellent and the ability to purchase more miles so easily is something i haven't experienced before.

This is correct. Full responsibility passes to the "new" leasee. Other companies although i haven't had any personal experience i've heard otherwise where the original leasee does have some liability.

Good luck with transferring it! That's a lot of car with some serious road presence(in my opinion anyways).

Have you found what you'll be replacing it with?
