bmwlvr60, congrats! Post some pictures of your new X3 when you have a chance. My wife will be going with Deep Sea Blue but with the Oyster interior. The M-sport package is being considered.

Congrats to of the most exited man on the earth today. Enjoy. Blue would have been my first choice, if I didn't own a blue X3 for the past 8 years.

OP, congrats (again). Disregard my previous request for the equipment list. However, can you post some pictures of the interior. I would like to see the beige with the M-sport. Oyster most likely will be the color my wife orders but she is also interested in beige. Thanks.

Took some exterior and interior pics before I left for a Christmas ski trip out West with my family. Renting a GMC SUV- real bad ride especially after driving the X3 around for a week, but I digress.

Bmwlvr60, thank you for posting the interior pictures. Again, beautiful X3 and congrats.

Can you confirm for me where you have both the M-sport and Cold Weather Pkg I, does the heated steering wheel remain? From other posts that I have read, I believe it does. This will be my wife's primary vehicle and believe it or not the heated steering wheel is a "must have" for her.

Did you rent the GMC for the space? I suspect that for extended trips I would do the same (2 adults, 2 kids 2 dogs).

Yes and yes. $700 cold weather package includes heated steering wheel - never had one and love it.

Yes, Terrible ride- GMC Terrain. We have 2 adults, 2 kids,
No dogs.

Nice ride! I think the Sienna wood goes great with the Sahara Beige. I couldn't do beige because I have trouble even keeping light clothes clean

Very true! It does get dirty easy- black floor mats help. Wife wanted a light interior.

Review of my X3 10 months after pick up:

I have to first say that I've never driven a more fun SUV in my life! WOW, never driven the Porsche SUV, but other than that one and the X5, I can't imagine anything that compares.

Dynamic Handling Package makes the driving experience. Putting it into Sports Mode and with DHP, it roars like a lion.

M sport- I just love the looks

H-K sound; must have. It is a very good under $1000 investment.

4 Cylinder engine. For some of you out there, it's not for you. I do think for the enthusiasts, and power cravers stay away. For most coming from another brand's SUV I do think you need to test drive it. We're getting- my wife's primary ride- mid 30 mpgs on the highway.

19" wheels just look nicer with this vehicle IMHO.

Huge sunroof lets lots of light in. Rarely have the glass open, but rarely have the shade closed.

X3 is not too small, but not too big. More luxurious looking than the X1, and not too big like the X5. Kids are teenagers now, so don't cart as much around anymore.

NAV/Seat warmers/Sport seats all nice.

Love the Deep Sea Blue color- much easier to keep clean than the blacks.

Sand Beige- wish the carpets were black. We have black all weather mats, but the carpet gets dirty fairly easily. Wife wanted a light colored interior.

Wife didn't want HUD- have it in my 5 Series and wish we had it in the X3.

Is not having a glove compartment with a lock a German car thing? Or is it a Japanese car thing to have one?

My X3 and 5 Series don't have one. Every Japanese car I owned had one.

The arm rest in my 5er can be locked, but the storage space is tiny. The point of having a locking glove compartment with a trunk lock inside, is to be able to valet the car and give them the key or fob that won't open the glove box or trunk. This way shopping bags and other valuable may be stored safely.

How about the handy storage box to the left of the steering wheel? Another opportunity to have a safe spot to store valuables- if it came with a lock.

Thieves, for the most part, like to be able to grab and run quickly. Please don't make the "it's not a safe afterall" argument.

How is the sound system in 2014 5er compared to x3 prem sound. I had 2013 3 series loaner and it had a very mice base sound system .... Prob better than my x3 prem sound.

Both are quite good. Maybe the 5er is slightly better since it has the same sound system and the cabin is smaller- amp doesn't 't need to work as hard.

The Terrain is narrower than the X3 but otherwise about the same size. I would have gotten a Durango, Expedition, or a bigger Jimmy like the Acadia -- much larger inside for all the "stuff". A note about "terrible ride" - in almost all cases it is horrible tire pressure levels. I don't know who they have checking the tires at the rental places but it must be the same guy. Fill it up until it is rock hard then move on to the next car. But only on one side (the one facing the boss) just forget about the off side. If I am going to do driving of any significant distance in my rental I check all four tires as soon as I can after getting the car. Tire checking has other advantages too -- found what could only be a slash in one tire that surely would have blown. Took the car right back and got another one.

Can't quite remember, but I think my '99 E46 328i had a lock, too, along with a valet key. Maybe it coincides with the move to fobs without actual keys (except for the little emergency key)? They probably figure that very few people would take out the emergency key to lock and unlock?

Just a thought. Could be wrong.

My 2014 X3 has a lockable glove box, you just use the physical key inside the fob. I'm amazed the 2013's didn't have it.
