Personally, I like street driving much better.

BMW Tri-chapter COTA Event
We are in discussions with the Lone Star Chapter and the Tejas Chapter regarding a Tri-chapter Event to be held at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) F1 track in Austin. We are hoping for June 6,7,8 of 2013. This is slated to be along the lines of a mini O'fest. Consisting of autocross, a car show, a DE (on a F1 track mind you!!!), and a BMW CCA Club Race, with vendor booths and the like. The various issues involved in conducting an event of this magnitude are multi-layered. We are looking at gaining sponsorship from dealerships, after market tuners such as Turner and Dinan, as well as independent shops, etc. This is a HUGE opportunity. BMW NA has volunteered to assist us in negotiating the track rental fees and further make this an annual event extending the next 5-10 years. Hopefully registration will be open sometime in Dec. Be watching for updates (fb, website, eBlast) as they become available. The DE will most likely fill up in a matter of days. Tentatively the plans are:
1. Entrants who have participated in HPDE's or Autocross within the last year-2 years will be given a 3 day advanced window to register for HPDE-Autocross.
2. Houston, Lone Star, and Tejas Chapter members will then be given the next opportunity to register.
3. Registration will then be open for all BMW CCA members nationwide.

As you can guess, this is a vast undertaking. It requires several "purpose specific" committees to help organize and oversee certain functions. The aim is to commingle committee participation with members from all three chapters. We want to be well organized in time to gain exposure in the Roundel for two issues prior to the date. Not all committees have been setup as of yet however the contact information for the Committee Chairs so far are:

Ross Carmichael HPDE Chair rcarmichael77@gmail.com

Bruce Heersink Race Chair bruce@heersink.org

Jeff Conner Hospitality Chair drumwagon@gmail.com

Ricardo Barnes Autocross Chair panama@wt.net

Please contact the chair person directly in the area you may have an interest, and let's make a positive Houston impact on this nationwide event. We do not want people going home with a negative impression of Texas, or how a prime opportunity was blown because it was poorly organized. This is our chance to shine. Let's do it!
