You show to be in South Africa. South Africa has its own CIC Map Region.

So, do you need North American CIC maps?

Does the engine have to be running when I put the usb in glove box, will the car recognize it on its own? Any additional steps.. thanks.

The car needs power. I would run the engine as it will take 40 minutes to complete, and on Auxiliary Power it will shut down in the middle of it, unless you have the car on a charger.

Just put the USB Drive in and wait 30 seconds, and iDrive will pop up prompting you to upgrade.

Thanks, just a question, the extraction of .img file after you open it with winRAR is taking 20-25 mins, is that normal or my computer is toll slow?

The .IMG file is 31.5 Gb, so yes it will take a long time to extract, especially on a slower machine.

Make sure you are using 7-Zip for this step.

Just to make sure that I am doing that right way, when I exrtact .img file with WinRAR using the supplied password, the resulting image file shows up against a CD icon (around 30GB in size). This is the one that I open with 7 Zip and copy that to my USB..right?
I have to do it for all 23. That looks like a long process.

No. When you open the RAR Part 1 with WinRAR, you are actually opening all 23 parts at that time. How else could you get several GB out of one 700 Mb file?

So, you open the RAR Part 1 with WinRAR, and extract the big .IMG file, and you are done with the RAR files. Then you open the big .IMG file with 7-Zip, and extract the one file and one folder inside it, and copy it to a Fat32 Formated USB Thumb Drive.

That's it.

I show it is 16.2 Gb Packed inside the RAR file, and 31.4 Gb in actual size when extracted:



Maybe with the Mac OS File System, it reports differently.

I know I've got to be making this much tougher than it is. I downloaded all 23 parts. What is it I am opening with Winrar? All I have is the 23 files. WHere do the config file and pkgdb folders live? How does the torrent file figure into all this, if at all?

I've already got my code, but can't figure out how exactly to access the files to load onto my usb.
