Paddle shifter use
I have never used paddle shifters on an automatic before. Can anyone respond with how they are using them? I could imagine down shifting to pass when in ECO mode. Downshifting when braking or cornering?
Thanks for any comments. |

Not really necessary if you press the accelerator pedal all the way to the "kickdown detent", I wouldn't think. |

I rarely use them. But my D also has gobs and gobs of low-end torque.

When going down hill I up shift to maintain speed. When coasting I use them to slow down to save breaks. Some people don't do this since they don't want to put extra wear on the engine but if you are only keeping the car for 3 years its not a problem.

I've been using the paddles to vary rpms on the highway since I'm still in break-in stage. I'd imagine using them most often on curvy roads to optimize the powerband. I definitely wanted the paddles as I'm trying to figure out whether I want a DCT or manual when I get in an //M3 in a few yrs.
