The Wife upgraded her E90

I still have the E46, but the E90 328 is gone. We just got the 2013 335 F30.

There is no comparison between this car and an E90. They are 2 very different cars.
This new 335 is REALLY REALLY GOOD!!

Congrats on the new ride ....you better start stocking up on rear tires....

Good looking car. But still not quite as good as the E46. Especially the center console layout. (Sour grapes anyone ?) Which trim package is it ?

I agree about the dash and center console. The nav screen integration leaves something to be desired. A beautiful car nonetheless. Best of luck with it Charles!

Congrats. Love the outside styling and I know the seats are super good too, still don't like the dash configuration on the new ones. Not that it matters, I can't afford one anyways!

That car is freaking beautiful! I can't wait to see the coupe (I think they're going to call it the 4). If I totally loose all my resolve, I'll get one of those in the same color as yours. Damn that red is fine...

How was your E90? My wife is thinking about getting one. Our local BMW dealer has two certified black '09 328s in the low $20ks - each with 30K miles. Also has a certified '11 with 8k miles for $30,000. One of the appeals is the 50K mile free service and potentially 4 more years of warranty.

The E90 was a nice little car. We went with our little 328 as it had the in-line 6r we liked so much - it was reliable - in 78,000 miles it never needed a repair. And sadly..... it was HEAVY. It was slow off the line and it struggled in the passing lane - the transmission was lazy - it didn't want to shift. If I found myself in a red light camera intersection - it was tough to get that car out of the line of fire before the camera went off and I got a little suprise in the mail. The handling was still great, but it was slow when you compared it to other BMW's we have owned in the past. Our 2005 330xi would easily beat the 2009 going down the street. (we still have the 2005 with 184,000 miles - it's still a blast to drive) At the end of the day, the 328 was a very nice plain jane sedan.

The F30 though - HOLY CRAP that thing is FAST!! It feels like a muscle car, and off the line, this car WANTS to blast up through the gears. The F30 - I just know....... in 8 years, we're still going to walk up to this car and say "Man this thing is still a blast to drive!!" Which for me, is what BMW is about - or it should be. (on another note - I put it into comfort mode on the way home last night and averaged 32 MPG).

I hate to hear that the E90 328 was slow. Obviously, the transmission/rear end is not geared right for speed. I was talking with a salesman at BMW of Nashville who hasn't seen a used certified E90 328 with a manual on their lot. That dealership is a part of the Sonic Automotive group, and we checked their national used inventory. At that time, they had over 100 certified E90 328s, none of which had manual transmissions and were certified. My wife is definitely not going to want a slow car after driving a Porsche for several years. BTW, we test drove a '99 E46 328 with a 5 speed in 2001 that would blow your drawers off.

Maybe we should wait a couple of years and look at the F30s?

Congratulation!.. Having a new car (whether brandnew or used) is always nice.
F30 is so out of my reach but maybe one day I will upgrade to E92.

Since I never owned E9x series, it still kind of difficult for me to spot the major differences between the E90 and the F30 you got. Sure there are some differences but I still do not see a big change coming from E90.
The change from E46 to E90 was so major that anybody could tell. It was like the entire car from inside out was redesigned. I don't think it is the same between the E90 and F30. Maybe I am mistaken.
