Well, that was nothing, wasn't it? A link to an alarmist webpage about problems that can't occur on your BMW.

Well that leads to the question:
Is there pairing protocol between the car key and the ECU that allows one to start the car when the key is not present. I would believe it's not possible to start the car once the key is not near your car.

Had an issue with a previous car's immobolizer when parked in a garage near Empire State Building, had to tow the car out of the garage on valentines day - car started fine a few blocks away from the ESB.

No way it was BMW's WFS, which is very, very short range and low power, although it could have been a coincidence, since E39 keys were failure-prone.

This is a totally worthless thread anyway. It's like being trapped on an escalator in a power outage.

What the hell is a "rouge" radio station? Who puts makeup on a radio station?

Our owner's manual specifically states that CA "may malfunction due to local radio waves." If this happens USE THE KEY.

No wonder a BMW malfunctions. Yugo? If it starts, works fine.

Wait a minute...I'm tuning in to WRKO NY with my crystal radio and hearing 1938 Yankee baseball games. Surely they must be repeats? And my CA ISN'T WORKING!
