2009 Z4 Longevity

Currently my 2009 Z4 has 72000 miles on it. I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off. Anyone have any idea how long a well maintained E89 will last?

That is a "how long as a piece of string?" question. Well maintained and changing the various transmission / Differential oils ( BMW oils) in the next 10k miles will make a real impact on life. Don't believe the crap about lifetime oils. The oil in the diff needs to be syphoned out as it does not have would you believe it a drain plug. Change completely the coolant with only BMW products, do not be fooled into going for cheaper stuff!!!! Replace the consumables like discs, springs and dampers at a reasonable mileage to get the value out of the change. Spread over time you should keep the car running a long time. Change the engine oil at lower mileage/time than that stipulated by BMW, all engines benefit from regular oil changes........

I can't speak for Z4's in particular since mine has only 13K, but any modern car should be good for at least 150K when it comes to major components such as engine and transmission. I would assume that you would incur 3K - 5K worth of repairs when it comes to keeping it well maintained up to that point. I am not including normal wear and tear repairs such as brakes and things that in my 3 -5 estimate. My estimate of 3K to 5K is for the unexpected things that seem to pop up even if you have maintained the car as well as possible.

I traded my E85 with over 115K on it and it had the necessities done to it always, oil change, tranny oil change, coolant change etc. If the E89 holds up like that one then we are in for a long ride.

Just follow Mike Miller's old school maintenance guide and you'll have no problem hitting 100k+
