Never had one. Never will. After reading this, I'm positive I'm not missing out on anything.

i ate a mcrid this friday. wanted to try it, wasnt great nor bad, like a bbq flavored sausage patty.. but jesus hitler christ! 1 gram of sodium.

that's what struck me about the article in the OP - I am pretty sodium sensitive - this thing would make me pay after for all the sodium.. my hands swell when/if I eat sodium laden foods - when we eat out, be it fries, or a steak - I tell them no salt - if that means cooking a fresh batch, then sorry... do that. For steaks, I used to tell them no seasoning, there will be enough on the grill, but having had a discussion with a manager about that one time when I was able to feel the grains on the steak still and he SWORE they never salted the steak, I now ask them to not just no season it - but also to wipe the grill before cooking my steak.

The chains are worst at this - outback food is so salty, that if we ever eat there - I enjoy it ok - but their blooming onion makes me pay for days due to the salt in the mix they make those things with... Pretty bad for a 40 something - I pay for sodium intake in a bad way...

Some of those facts are pretty gnarly, but I'm sure the process etc. is probably similar to other McD products.

I bet they use tons of di-hydrogen monoxide as well. Nasty stuff.

I very rarely set foot in McD's and even more rarely eat any of their food products. (I shy away from "fast food" in general)

As the very old saying goes, don't ask what's in the sausage. Seeing most any mass-produced food made would turn most people onto a raw food vegan diet. We forget that man has always had a certain amount of dirt, insects, and rat droppngs in his diet.

As for McD's marketing of the McRib, I think its brillant. They have a product that most people, if it was around all the time, would never eat. By selling it at only certain times of the year, people think its a special treat.

I want to see what the test kitchen looks like...

I first heard about it on the Daily Show a couple years ago where Jon Stewart was waxing rhapsodic about it. I had one, not bad, I wasn't immediately hooked. A few weeks later I bought one for an old fellow I picked up hitchhiking from San Jose to LA. He liked his a lot. I later had one more, also tasty enough but that was my last one. I was a bit surprised at the tripe part, as when I had that once in a taco, reminded me of liver.

On rare occasions, I'll eat the McD's bacon-egg-cheese biscuit when I'm on the road. Jack-in-the-Box has a better one that's available all day - McD's stops serving theirs at around 11 am.

I'm fed up.

i've had tripe, it depends on how it's done, as well as tongue, which i do like. (sorta like pasrtami to me...)

i do not care for scrapple, but i eat sausage. i prefer natural casing to gelatin, and, eat certain brands of liverwurst, bratwurst, and some hotdogs.

i do not care for the mcrib. had somewhen i was a kid. kids'll eat anything. i'd rather eat a hot dog than that.

and i do not eat fast food.

I haven't gotten actual food at McDonalds in a while now. Only things I have gotten on their menu recently is their McCafe stuff (pretty good) and the Ice Cream cone.

Last time I tried the McRib, I was sick for a couple days after. If I'm going to ****ty fast food places, I'll stick to Wendys or Subway.

Ate one a few hours ago. It was delicious. Might have another for lunch tomorrow.
