'95 325i, broken hose?

I know my valve cover gasket is leaking, but I also have this broken hose as seen in the pictures.

What I'm wondering is, what exactly is this hose for and is it going to cause any big problems if I drive with it broke?

BTW: the car starts and runs fine.

Mein Auto: rescued bmw's
part of the crankcase ventilation system. you will need the proper size emissions grade hose, or fuel line as 'regular' vacuum line will turn to mush.
