How do I program New key for 2008 x3

Anybody know how to do this? My original key works fine but needed a 2nd one just in case. New key machined and looks identical to original. Haven't inserted into ignition Yet. Can confirm buttons not working as of yet

Thanks john320. I tried it several times but no locking and relocking of the doors. Key works but remote still dead. Should I try to charge it maybe?

We are super lucky...the e46 wiki has a wealth of knowledge for us that is extremely relevant and applicable to the e83. It is located here and that's where I pulled the instructions:

Yep... What most don't realize is the e83 is the same as the e46. My point was just that there is a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips.
