My new Bimmer: 2013 535i M-SPORT .... Life is good!

Congratulations DallasBimmer - beautiful car. Light color is the way to go with the M-Sport package. That way the black trims show up so much better. I just wish BMW put springs that would lower the car by 1/2 an inch. There are days when I miss my E60 handling.

I opted not to get DDC, I'm happy with the MSport setup so far. Now I'm curious.

That's interesting since the xdrive MSport does not one with the passive sport suspension.

Whats really interesting to me is that MY car, 2013 535i XDrive MSport, have the options to select Sport, Comfort, or ECO mode. I normally drive in Sport mode with the darn auto stop turned off.

Thoses settings are about shift points, and throttle response - nothing to do with suspension.

Made standard on all cars since 2012 MY.

The reason I commented was because you mention you were curious and since the discussion was about DDc vs. MSport passive sport suspension, I though you should know that you don't have either. This bodes well for you since you are happy. The sport suspension may have been to harsh for you in the long run.

WOW! I didn't know that! I KNEW something felt different on this car. I'm a huge advocate for steel suspensions as IMO the "digital suspensions" I've experienced haven't always truly impressed me, and I loathe the added reliability/upkeep issues on such a focal point of a car.... even if I'm Leasing.

I knew something felt tighter and simply "simpler" about how well the suspension acts on my car than the 2012 M Sport I drove some months back. I'm gonna wager and say/hope the 2013 M Sport suspension is the better alternative for this particular car. At least we know unlike what apparently was the case for 2012 F10 M Sports (from what I heard?), the 2013 DOES indeed have a dedicated "M Sport" suspension.

Also steering feel. Though I'm still curious as to what *technically* changes in steering from Comfort to Sport. Is Sport steering heavier, more direct, etc.?

Also, as for the settings, I still can't figure out what Eco Pro and Comfort do differently. The car *feels* slower in Eco Pro so I assume it further softens throttle response and lowers shift points, but don't know if that's just in my head.

Beautiful car. I noticed you didn't get the sport tranny with paddle shifters. Any particular reason? I say this only because most m sports have this option. But great car!

I have to say, coming from a 750Li, this car just dazzles you. The cornering, performance, and just the way it looks is amazing.
I do miss the room in the 750, but this car more than makes up for it with so much more modern technology and convinience. All I have to say is wow!

i do not have paddle shifters on my m sport, i did have it on my e92 and i can honestly say i used it 2x in 2 years. Is it more so for aesthetics? or do you guys use it?

I don't use mine...but it looks nice!

I use em...a quick way to grab another gear or two when you want to really take off, as opposed to moving your hand to the gear shift, putting it in manual and then shifting. Not the end of the world without them, but a nice thing to have. Also, I've heard that the sports transmission options shifts faster...probably just a different software program or a software toggle activated with that option...I don't know, can anyone confirm if this is true.

It definitely shifts faster. It's just programming, it is the same transmission.

Also, the shifter on the SAT is much nicer, IMO.

Yeah, I just noticed how much nicer the shifter on the SAT is too. That was a must have for me, paddles which come in handy sometimes, the much cooler look with them, the faster shifting tranny and of course the higher quality shifter.

However, to each their own, to some I can see it being negligible.

Other than playing around with them on rare occasion, I doubt I'll use mine much either. But back when I ordered my car, this forum educated me that when you upgrade to paddle shifters, you also get a better tranny. So I did...

Good question. When I went in on December 31st to buy the car, this one had all the options I wanted except the paddles. I checked with the other two dealers but they didn't have white with all black interior. I settled on this one since they sweetened the deal by getting real close to invoice and giving me what I wanted for my trade in.

I had paddles on my IS350 and only used them a few times in 4 years. I like the SAT, but am very happy with my cars performance, looks, and the price I paid!
