1992 525i exhaust question

So im running a magnaflow muffler with no resanator and stock cats I was looking for suggestions on muffler I didn't wanna go crazy and spend money on an eisman or remus cause that's like half the cars worth almost but I was wonder would I get better sound if I ran to small mufflers off each pipe or a diffrent muffler brand?

with all due respect, we need to establish a starting point. exhaust sound varys for a lot of people. are you wanting it louder than your current setup or quieter? throater or smoother? a "better sound" is subjective

magnaflow is a good brand. but a dohc I6 isn't a throaty engine to start with because its a well balanced engine

Really hard to tell what you are looking for. On my car, I removed the rear muffler and left the rest stock. It is loud, raspy and drones at 60 in fifth. I think the way to go is a new system. Hi-flow cat, resonator and muffler in back all on one 2.5-3" pipe.

I think the reason you do not have the sound you want is the lack of a resonator. Finding something aftermarket that is readily availible and cheap means you have to experiment. If I were you I would fit a glasspack type muffler in the resonators place. This will probably get you more of the sound you are looking for, then control the volume of that sound with the muffler, or lack therof
