What do you guys do?

Most people who can afford an e9X M must have good jobs. Just wondering what everyone does for a living (especially those of you ordering brand spanking new ones!!).

I just paid $44K for an '08 and I'm pretty sure the new ones are over $60K. What do you guys do for a living and can you hire me?? :o)



I'm a consultant btw in the consumer packaged goods industry (basically a glorified salesman).

I paid $37.5k for an '08, my first used BMW, since the E90 is no longer in production and my family need demanded I give up my E86M, I found this one with 19k miles babied the way I would baby it.

I'm a Master Sergeant in the aircraft maintenance career field in the USAF. I'm single, drove an econobox for 5 years, deployed lots, saved my money, and will pay off my '11 M3 in 2 weeks.

I don't work. My exotic ride is this guy. I chose it over the M3.

OP, you're right, a new M3 would be $60k plus. Most coupes are purchased with all of the "bells and whistles". Therefore pushing the MSRP to $72-75k. Do you need to have a good level of income or savings to buy a new M3, yes. But that is not the complete picture. How much of the income is being allocated to other obligations. There are plenty of people in different career paths that can make $80k, 90k, 100k plus and afford a M3. However, add-in the mortgage, investments, and other required financial commitments, some, even with a good salary, can not afford a M3 (or similar priced vehicle). Also some that can, opt not to pay the new price. Rather go with a 2-3 year old model. Financially speaking, this is the smart path. Let someone else take the depreciation.

The question, while I understand why you are asking it, is often posted on different forums. Backgrounds range from engineers to doctors, military to business owners and sales to Walmart (yep, seen that one a few times).

My background, automation and controls (i.e. engineering) and a small consulting business on the side.

Me, I am retired. No work. Nada. Prior occupation... it doesn't matter, it was a prior life!

I plan on getting the next generation M3 when they first come out. I'll do another ED and see Europe the right way.
