E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

How much is my car 325e worth?
Hey guys, I'm just toying with the idea of selling my 1987 325e and was wondering how much it would be worth. Right now, it has about 208k miles on it but still runs very smoothly. I just put a fresh coat of paint on it from Maaco for a $1200, new set of standard tires, new timing belt, and new battery. The hood has few dings here and there from the previous owner but I was thinking about getting those removed. It has a manual transmission, however the interior is showing a little wear and tear such as holes in the shifter's boot, stitching in the driver's leather seat, and a few other minor things. Just about everything on the car is stock and is in great shape. I'm just curious if you guys could give an estimate on how much it would be worth. Thanks!

depending on rust, you could potentially get about 2 out of it maybe more just depends on the buyer

"buffed out rust" ? you can't "buff" out rust.
the main issue is its an early ETA. $2000-$2500 is pretty much going to be your top dollar.

Buffed out as in having it having it sanded, that's just my way of saying it. But thank you

id advise sticking to the phrase "rust professionally removed" when you go to sell the car.
it won't have been sanded out either. It should have been cut out and new steel welded in, or if done the cheap way just filler used.

if it's just surface rust, you can sand blast the rust away and use a good primer and not have a need for filler. anything to avoid body filler.

This. The markets are different everywhere tho op...my best advice is to search on clist etc and see what people are asking for theres and base your price off that.

ask your self how much you would pay for that car. if you can honestly say that you would buy the car for 2500.00, then list it for that.
these guys are right that your area may have lots of e30's or very few. do some searchs. even if there are lots, still list it and see what happens. you can always lower your price if need be. its impossible to raise the price once its out there. |

I always ask more than what I would take b/c generally people will talk you down some and it makes the buyer feel like they getting the better end of the deal. So if you want $2500 id list it for around $2950 bc that sounds wayyyy less than $3000 even tho its only $50...gives you alot of room to get the 2500 out of it.

listing a car for $2950 also makes the buyer think you want way more than the car is worth. i won't even go look at a car i think is worth $2500 if it's listed for pretty much $3k. buyers who list the car that high over it's value are the types of people you don't want to waste your time with.
IF you want $2500 for it, which is too much for that car, list it for $2700.

Buffed out rust XD haha sorry had to.
Depending where you're from your rust issues might be where paint is not... (check underneath), as it is in my case in the north. |
