Uh oh...Alarm system went off while driving!

Well, isn't this interesting? I was practicing downshifting using the Manual Mode, snow will be here soon enough and wanted to get familiar with the transmission. I have an automatic. I am stopped at the stop light get ready to go in M1 and yikes, the alarm goes off! Everything is running ok, so I get across the intersection pull over. Get the manual out and disarm it. But what???? I will call service but, how wierd! What did I do? LOL

Apparently, this happens more than I knew. I googled it. Freaky thing, could go off at any time. Will not be able to get to the dealer until next week.... Oh well, will keep key fob close in case. Need to disarm it again.

Ok then. No one else has had the thrill of this happening to them. I may post up after I see Service.

Hmmmmm, geeeez, hope we're not guinea pigs for the X1 LOL..... But my dealer did say. " oh I'm sure you'll be calling me". YIKES!!!!!!

How did u disarm it? Or should I just go down into my cold garage ....and get my manual out of my X1 just in case????? Geeeeeeeez!!!

I pulled out the manual, I think it said press the middle BMW button on the key, then put it in the ignition. That disarmed it. I tried calling Servce on my lunch break....busy. Will try again tomorrow. In the meantime, I an in no way duplicating the scenario . No satellite radio, no shifting in manual mode. That's the only things I've done differently.

I hate to tell you all, but google BMW alarm going off while driving......we are not alone! I don't even want an alarm, didn't know I even HAD one! This is why I don't like alarms....LOL

It's -6 degrees here, I hope nothing funky happens to my X1. Lol.

I know, right? Chicago just broke the 1940 record for 320 snowless days! Yes...no snow! Crazy. It's not even that cold out. My X1 remains outside 24/7 as my daily driver, while my Stang is on the battery tender in the garage for the Winter. I'm very curious to see how the car behaves in extreme cold. How's yours doing?

I haven't had the alarm go off again, been too busy to get to Service.

Well, so far my X1 has behaved itself in the extreme cold, I'm talking IDAHO cold. Heated steering good,,, seat Warmers good,,, start up good,,, HOWEVER.... The alarm did sound while in the post office. I thought OMG,,, nooooooooo!!!! But, could have been a fluke,, IDK,,
The rear tire pressure is showing up low,, sooo I've decided.. The Germany made X1's have OCD. BUT,, Really, in the cold, very very below 0 cold, it's all good....

LOL, your alarm went off already? SURPRISE! Yes, I gotta say, heated steering wheel and seats are fabulous!!! I need to get a BMW remote start, you would probably benefit from that too. Probably wait until next Winter as its been so mild. I am going to ask service if they can remove this alarm..I hate it and don't want one. Someone wants the car, take it..it's insured.

How could Chicago be so warm?? Well anyway, maybe when you go into set ups, not sure about this, but I'm wondering if you can disable the alarm. Well I remember my salesman asking me if I wanted to hear the beeps after locking the car while he was setting things up for me. So yea my car will beep. I think the newer cars are tougher to steal anyway. But some people who live in high crime locations probably want the alarms, big time.
I agree, I've always had heated seats, but the steering is definitely a bonus. LOVE IT!!!
Also,, the remote start,, we have it on other vehicles, AND YES the best invention ever, HOWEVER....... And I don't say this lightly... If the installer screws that up, that could be a big mess. With all the other features going on with the X1.. IDK???????? Plus I checked with my last BMW X3 and they wanted almost 1,000.00 for it. That wasn't BMW however. My salesman said he didn't know why they haven't (BMW) put them into their vehicles.
