I switched out to the 550 diffuser. It was $94.82 delivered from www.GetBMWParts.com.
Maybe I am looking in the wrong spot but I can't find the part on that site.

Got it thanks.

I get my car in a few weeks. Jet black msport. Is the standard diffuser on the msport like a charcoal or dark grey? Also what color is the 550 diffuser that comes from that site?
thanks.

Good deal. The 550 diffuser you'll get is identical in color (dark grey) and style as the 535 with the exception of the cut outs for the pipes.

Thanks for this informative thread Chuck! I am ready to go dual quads on my 535i. I want my diffuser the same color as my car (Titanium Silver). I guess BMW only sells one 550i diffuser and I have to get it painted? Anyone know of a place that would sell the diffuser already painted? Thanks.

Easy to disable valve

The F10 550i HAS a dual mode exhaust. The valve is vacuum actuated at low RPM for sound control and opens up as RPM climbs (above 1500-2000).
Easy to disable: you can tack cable wire open, tack weld open, or cut flap out BUT block off the vacumn hose leading to each valve in each case.
Makes very little sound difference (slightly louder at start up and idle) and will not throw a fault light, nor does the dealer care (I asked them).
QUOTE=passer68;6831086]Didn't know the F10 has a dual mode exhaust. How is it controlled? via the sport/sport+ controls?

Anyone have a sound clip of the two different modes? Would love to hear the difference.
I am leaning towards getting the top quad tip (Double Thin Layer Chrome Quad Tips Angle Cut). Has anyone seen pics of these tips on an F10?

Big D,
How are you going to install these on your non M-Sport rear bumper? I've been toying with the idea of adding a quad exhaust to my car but I don't have the M-Sport bumper w/ the interchangeable diffuser. If you have any ideas please let us know.

I know someone selling their quad tips for $150 shipped. If you're interested I'll send you a PM.

Mr G , I initially was hunting for a used 550i rear bumper (non M-Sport as I like our rear bumper better). I than noticed in Lacasters thread that his F10 was a non M-Sport from the beginning. Who would have guessed that! Lol.

Look towards the bottom of this page and look at the pics I linked. I am now motivated to find a very skilled muffler shop that can perfectly cutout my bumper to accommodate the quad tips. I think they did a perfect job on Lacasters bumper and am hoping to have a similar result.

Did you ever find a shop and get the tips installed?
I debated for several weeks whether to do the quad pipe mod. I looked at every photo that alex_c (Alex) and 5seriesHB (Rob) posted numerous times. I had some concern while looking at some of the photos that the pipes protruded too far. When MCMB (Paul) bought a set of black chrome quad tips for his 550 and they won't work, I contacted him and he sold them to me for more (way more) than a fair price. I spoke with Rob on the phone and exchanged emails with him and Alex about the mod. Thanks to them it was an easy mod.

I found a local muffler shop that had great reviews and had them installed this morning. The photos don't do them justice. They fit well with the M-Sport package. IMHO, they do not stick out too far and look correct for the car.

Thanks to Rob, Alex and Paulů..

To me, there is no noticeable difference in sound. Perhaps if you stand next to the pipe there may be some, but inside the cabin with the windows up or down, there is none. Below is a link to a sound clip that 5seriesHB (Rob) has posted.

I finally got dual quads on NON M-Sport bumper. It was literally a 5 hour job (and $330 of install cost alone); however, I am happy with the results. I went with the polished double layer tips from Cyba (Divison Works).

I posted a detailed write-up in another thread:
