Good for you on changing the DISA. I pulled mine out to replace it and it looked fine so I'm sending the new one back. Good intel for me to note is you saw a drastic diff after 36k miles. I may make checking the DISA an every one or two year routine since I am at 95k right now. I just relocated to Seattle so I don't know what my annual mileage will look like out here.

Why send it back? I'd stash it away because you WILL need one sooner or later.

You've already spent the money. Consider it an investment as you may not get the same price next time around.

Good point. I'll have to think about it. I'm not good with storing something where I can find it 2 years later as I move around a lot and lose things in the process (lol). That $157 may be better spent on a water pump and expansion tank as my DISA looks as if it were installed 10 - 20k miles ago. It has a very light crystallized glaze of suit (or something). The spring, flap, pin and diaphragm feel brand new. I may not need one for another 3 - 5 years.

If it were $20 I wouldn't waste time sending it back. $157 can be useful elsewhere in the vehicle. That being said your suggestion concerning the price now vs down the road is extremely valid. Thanks for that input.

Lucky for me that I stumbled on this thread during my DISA search.

Order placed for DISA and SAP from Tischer BMW. I wasn't planning to replace the SAP, but the price was right for preventive maintenance.

No but if you contact Tischer or Bill Dodge BMW, you will still get a very good price, maybe $10 more than the group buy price.

But Gary's kit is cheaper and more effective. No?

Good point, Doru. I don't have that link handy so search for DISA improvement. It's a bombproof improvement to the current DISA design (pin cannot release). Unfortunately, many of us bought factory replacement DISAs before Gary had his modification available.

I wonder how many of us in the Group Buy will get this letter (dated 11/9/2012)? In my emails with Ron V @ Bill Dodge BMW back in 10/2011, he mentioned setting up a wholesale account so that he could offer 20-30% off parts.

Bill Dodge's Office Manager is requesting a "Resale Certificate" as they prepare for a sales tax audit. Ron shouldn't have set up a wholesale account for my DISA purchase. Now I need to spend time fixing this since the letter stated that they will have to charge sales tax on the purchase (maybe this was a form letter since Maine is a destination-based sales tax state... I live in IL).
