Nice! Auto or 5 speed?

Welcome to the fest!

Suggestion: get rid of the eyelids on the headlights. The car looks like it's dozing off.....

Welcome aboard. I'm fairly certain your car will need a lot of work to get into good shape. We have lots of information for all of the most common issues and concerns listed in the stickies at the top of the E36 page. I highly recommend reading through all of it.

Thank you , going through the forum now ,
I agree on those eye lids , don't like them myself.
Put new tires on today . Runs great , haven't found any problems "yet" lol.
Did get the brake circuit failure message tonight , pulled the fuse , reset it , I'll check the brake petal as all the lights still work.
All in all I'm pretty happy with my first BMW .

5 speed

Welcome to the 'Fest! You don't have to pull the fuse to reset a brake circuit failure warning. It will flash on the OBC for a bit after you shut the engine off, but it will be flushed the next time you start the engine if the fault isn't currently showing.
Brake light circuit is usually the brake light switch sticking. Common E36 failure.

Here's a DIY on how to replace it.

If your car has the OBC or the Check Control display you'll get the brake circuit failure notice even if the switch only sticks momentarily and then activates so the description in the DIY about no brake lights is when the switch has essentially frozen in place.

My 220d had garden hose for a coolant pipe. Apparently it was stock because all of the other 220d's that I saw pictures of had the same thing

Looks more like heater hose to me. Who knows when it was replaced, hell it could have ripped in 2000 and instead of paying the 75 dollars or so it would of cost for that BMW OEM part, they just fixed it with a piece of heater hose. Who knows

My guess is that garden hose doesn't hold up very well to oils & fuels, though.

true. also not sure of the burst rate of garden hose, either. could be just green hose, though. it could also be a silicone hose for some air pump applications. i used green hose for that, which is high temp and *should* be resistant to oils and such.
