Need Help P0100 Code from autozone.
Hello, new here and am trying to fix up my 2001 bmw 540i. it has 193505 miles on it and the error message "trans. failsafe prog" chimes when I start the car and will chime again maybe a quarter mile down the road, The only noticeable issue I have seen from the car is when accellerating from stop, like at a stop sign or light, the car seems to be sluggish and then will speed up. I took it to autozone and they hooked up to the OBD and their scanner gave them the codes P1340 AND P0100. The guy at autozone said the P1340 meant it most likely needs a tune up and that he was unable to match the P0100 in their database. Anyone here familiar with
P0100 code? Any help would be much appreciated. |

There is more OBD II info on the internet than you can shake a stick at. Just type BMW OBD II PO100 into a google search box. OBD II was a federal mandate that required ALL car MFGs to have one standard for electronic engine emissions...that is why the info is plentiful and easily found.
Good luck. ![]() Examples of quick google search:
