Took my wife's car to the dealer for service. Since they had to keep the car overnight they offered us the use of a 2011 328i. Since her car is a 535i I was skeptical about the drivability/fun/comfort of the 3 series car. I was very pleasantly surprised! Not only does the 3 series get great mileage, it also shows excellent power/fun in "sport" mode. The only drawback are the smaller dimensions of the cabin compared to the 5 series, otherwise the 3 series is not "short" on anything!

Go test drive 335, and this is one I wanted.

What did you think of the seats specifically? I had a 328 loaner once and thought the seats were absolutely horrid.

I wonder what is the most common pain of the 3 series??? 7 years ago, I used to look at the 3 series the same as my 02 Jetta.

I had the same experience with a loaner 2013 328i. But I also agree that the prior generations seats were horrid. Too small and materials sub-par for a bmw. But this current generation of 328 or 335 seems fantastic and closer to the size of my beloved prior e39.

I must admit, the 3 series seats don't compare to the 5 series seats with Dakota leather, all the adjustments and the seat extenders (which I love).
