Air pump hose

Hello members,
my BMW 528i 1998 failed smog because what they called a bad air pump hose.
I attached a picture of the bad hose. I found one on ebay part#: 11721427912

Is that the right part? if not what is it?
Also, is that the right name for the part?

Go to local autoparts store and buy a generic heater hose for $3.
Measure the internal diameter first.
For the other side, you need to remove the RF wheel (use jack stand!), then access the air pump connection from below.

Do NOT JUST GO BUY HEATER HOSE !!!! It will not be able to make the bends needed to route the hose where it need to go. It will kink in 2 or 3 different spots I PROMISE you. Buy the correct hose...it comes pre shaped to fit around the bends it needs to make. Trust me ... I went through this already....

Actually the heater hose works fine because the bend is not that bad. It will kink a tiny bit but zero issues. Just make sure that it bends properly.
Plus this is a non-sense SAS system, so who cares. Spenidng some $35-$40 for this piece of BS is a waste of money.

In my Volvo I deleted the SAS system already with a diode.

Do what you want....but when you bend that heater hose in 3 different 90 degree bends and it crimps off in all 3 points don't say I didn't warn ya. To me spending $30 to get the correct oem replacement is well worth it for piece of mind that you fixed the problem and fixed it correctly. Im all for saving money , hell I tried the heater hose thing, but it's not saving money when you end up having to buy the oem hose after you've already bought the heater hose. This is just my opinion based on a recent experience . take it for what it's worth.....good luck !

I have tried the heater hose and it works fine.

O.P., look at your original photo, the quickest fix is to slice the bad part and re-connect the hose to pass emission.

You don't necessarily need to remove the wheel, turning it all the way to the left will gain enough access to the SAP....assuming you don't have 20+ inch wheels.

He's right actually. A heater hose will work just fine.
