excuse my noobness..
I have the same exact e46 and I really like that look, Can someone tell me what style these rims are? Are they direct bolt on or do I need spacers? does any modification have to be done?
Thanks.

Those are the ugliest wheels I have ever seen. I hope you're trying to find them so you can destroy them and prevent others from having to see their awfulness.

Those are E53 X5 wheels. Most likely 4 fronts.

OP,
Use this link as a style reference resource. As 1naztyx5 stated, those are E53 X5 wheels - look to be style #131. 8.5 x 18 et48 all around - those should fit e46 just fine. www.bmwstylewheels.com

I know you want to upgrade your car, but the sport wheels currently on it look very nice.

Thanks but the previous owner used the wheels as curb feelers. it's hard to see in the pic but they are pretty scratched up, eventually I'd like to replace them.

Try your local BMW dealer to see who they use to refurb wheels. Around here they will refurb for $60 each as long as they do all 4, and they look brand new after the work.
