Think I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on this one. It's 'only' 4 bills and good for an upgrade to Stage 2 when they get it ready.

Anyone have experience with them? Been talking to Jeff and he has been very responsive and patient with all my stupid questions.

I'd be cautious to add with your warranty and not a lot of HP/TQ gain.

Why not wait for the BMW warranty approved Dinan II that should be available next Spring for the 2013 engine?

True.
This seems to imply that it removes "without a trace". I dunno, the warranty is not much of an issue for me though as I drive 40-50K miles/year for business so it'll be up well before most others.

I didn't think 20hp and 40 lb/ft to the wheels (approx 30-35hp at crank) was bad considering the cost....an intake would go for that much with 1/2 the hp (usually). Still will do the Dinan as soon as it's ready.

I'm coming from a modified, '08 600 hp Z06 (I know, different worlds ) so while I do love the N63, it isn't quite at the level of the Z. Of course it beats the living hell out of it in every other area!

Thanks for the input though, good things to consider.

Those numbers are for the older N63 engine because don't the 2013 650i have the revised motor with 445hp and 480 twq?

Just to clear things up A member DYNO'd his DINAN STAGE 2 on a 550i and got 411 whp to the wheels .

BMS is claiming the same . Don't forget these guys are know for the 100 whp tunes on the 335i so what makes you think we won't be up there soon . It's two plugs warrant will never know !

You know, I'm confused now. I know the Gran Coupe got the HP bump to 445 for the 2013 model year, but I keep hearing conflicting reports about the 2013/F13 "real" coupe (2 door - mine). I have no idea if I'm putting out 400-ish or 450-ish.

If anyone knows, I would like to as well

Well, I went straight to the horses mouth. Per the bmwusa site, the 2013 'real' coupe (2 door) does indeed get 445hp for 2013. Assuming about a 15% drivetrain loss, I'm guessing it's the graph from the 2013 (445*.85 = 378.5hp). Sound about right?

Common sense would tell you, being that the new 2013 N63 motor has only been out for 3 months I think this set up is for the 2012 engine. There's no statement whether this is for the 12 or 13 engine and one size doesn't fit all. And Dinan is currently working on their Stage II for the 2013 engine.

BMW notoriously underrates their engines. The outgoing N63 regularly dynos at 380-390 rwhp even though the claimed output is 400hp. The new N63 will probably dyno at 425-435 rwhp if the same percentages hold true...

Good stuff. I'm still on the fence. May wait until spring and see what the Dinan tune puts down on the '13.

Just put the BMS N63 Stage 1 harness on my 2012 650ix coupe. It took all of ten minutes and the sound alone says the car is faster....I had to pick up my daughter so no luck on 0-60 tests using my Android CT Speedometer - more results tomorrow once I have some empty roads to waste some gas on...

GREAT JOB, GREAT QUALITY and THANKS BMS FOR YET ANOTHER STUPID FUN BUT USELESS MAN TOY…Rest assured this will help me die with a smile on my face!

I take back everything I said months ago.

The Stage I BMS tune is the Real Deal. Absolutely love it......and damn if you like more low and high end HP/TQ it's the best $379 spent.

And while your at it, remove the drop in Carcoal Filter that's on top of the air filter too.

I am very surprised to find nobody makes a high performance filter for the intake. I have yet to take apart the air box, how is this accomplished?

Guys: Without hesitation I just bought my wife the new iPad mini with retina display. Why can't I pull the trigger on the BMS Stage 1 kit - for less money? I'm really struggling here. I think I want it, but part of me says I won't really notice the HP/TQ increase.

I have ~15 months remaining on my lease and my next car may very well be another 6er, so I could still use the kit. The other side of the argument is that in about 15 months, if I go for a 6, I'll get a ~45HP increase anyway.

Has BMS or anyone confirmed the HP increase Stage 1 has on the Tu (vs. the 25 claimed for the "regular" N63)? Has anyone run a 1/4 mile with either engine and compared stock to Stage 1? I've seen dyno charts, but nothing real world.

Thanks.

I will spend hundreds of dollars on an amusing dinner/wine and the only thing I have to show for it is a hangover for a day.

Every time I get in my 650i, I nail the b*tch and get a massive smile on my face. This is considerably better than sex as I can do it all day long. The low end torque is now massive, turbo lag is near non-existent and my android ct speedometer app says my 0-60 went from 5.2 seconds to 4.9.

At 50 years old, my wife is trying to understand why I come home with a smile on my face - she does not know about the tune, it's my secret.

I'd say go ahead and grab one. I just put an order in for one now that my engine has been broken in a bit. Some of the 7 series guys have the N63tu with the BMS tune and each of them seem to appreciate it. Supposedly there's a stage II coming out in about 6 months that'll hook up to it serially for even more power. It'll be like having an M6...with a sunroof.
