HISTORY: Something fell off a truck and went under the front wheels of the car. Immediately after my DSC BRAKE warning lamps came on and the car lost steering alignment (1/4 shift to the right). Also my passenger front tire was worn down to the metal threads and busted but still held air. In this condition I managed to drive safely home 450 miles/10 hours from Canada back to Brooklyn.
Since I been back I have put on new tires and I did a complete alignment (I also have new brakes pads/rotors all around and did a complete brake fluid flush). I inspected and cleaned all the ABS/Speed sensors but the yellow DSC BRAKE warning lamp remains on even though the car is driving much better now. My suspension system checked out fine except for one worn outer ball joint on my driver side front control arm that is causing my driver front wheel to be slightly loose. I'm ordering new control arms the end of the month. But still the car is driving, handling and braking fine. PROBLEM: Today SolidJake ran the codes for the DSC BRAKE warning lamps and we found 4 errors all related to something called the steering alignment sensor and the lamps could not be coded to reset and turn off. DSC BRAKE Warning lamps on my dash: ![]() All Codes: 4 Error Codes for the ABS/DSC system: ![]()

Looks like you need a new steering angle sensor. It is located on the steering column under the dash and will need to be coded to your car's computer by a stealership or an indy with the proper software after you install the new one. The warning lights will not go out until the coding is completed.

This is probably a long shot, but did you try disconnecting/reconnecting the battery ?

I realize this is old, so I merely refer the OP to this new E46 thread opened today to help all E46 owners resolve the bifecta or trifecta for around a hundred bucks:
- E46 ABS control module harness wheel sensor pinout for the ABS/BRAKE/DSC bi trifecta
