Z3 Sport or M Seats

Does anyone know if the only difference between standard and sport seats is the foam and the seat covers? I was wondering if you could put sport foam and covers on a standard seat?

Obviously the foam and leather is matched for each seat type: they each have completely different shapes and leather attachment methods.
But I believe you are correct that the rest of the seats are identical between regular and sport seats. You could go to RealOEM.com or BMWFans.info to see if they share the same part numbers.

Thanks. Looks like they have different numbers for the backrest frames. I may get new covers for my standard seats and thought maybe I could make sport seat covers work.

I do not believe that standard seats can take sport seat covers. I test drove a Z3 M with sport seats, and now own a plain Z3.
The two seats look and feel completely different. The sport seats are big, plump, firm, with prominent side and bottom bolsters.
My standard seats are flat, wimpy, with minimal bolstering.
The cover of a sport seat must be completely different from a cover for a standard seat.
Do not buy sport covers for a standard seat without further research. They are likely to be a very baggy in fit.

You're probably right and you described the standard seats to a T! That's why I'm trying to come up with a way to make them more comfortable.

I think you have to find salvage sport seats, or aftermarket seats. Both expensive.
