reverse but no drive? help

89 735il goes into reverse fine but when I put it into drive nothing.. I'll put it in drive rev up to 3k and it will display Trans program. I tried unplugging the tcm and the ecu same story nothing. Trannie fluids normal maby it's the filter but idk help.
I also plugged in my code reader and nothing comes up

Start looking for a new tranny, or a rebuild.

I have another trannie but if it's something electrical I don't wanna swap it if I don't have to ya know

I do not think the transmission has the ability to store fault codes in a car of this age. These auto transmissions fail with high miles, I would bet that yours has failed internally. There are precious few electronics on your trans making mechanical failure almost certain. Hopefully you are swapping in a manual

Why swap to manual. A good auto is fine. OK, not a performance option I'll concede.

it's a yacht not a race car.. I mean the back seats recline...I just need some suggestions on how to fix my Trans.

if you rev it up to sort of 4500rpm or so does the car start to drive forwards then? if so it could be low fluids. but i do doubt it.

rebuild time. not much point swapping in another auto as that will only give out again in another year or so, especially if its been sitting around for a while.

dont go manual in a 7 series. will destroy the whole experience of the car.
