45k service before warranty expires
I brought my 2009 335 in for service a couple of months ago, and was told that my 45k service would be due soon, but they can't do it until the computer says it's time. Currently it shows 3900 miles till service, but the dealer stated that the light should go on at 2000 miles till service at which point I could get it done.
the sticking point is that my "free maintenance" plan ends Feb 27th, and I think I will probably only drive about 1500 miles before then. My question to everyone is... what is the typical cost of the 45k service (oil change, replace interior filter, replace spark plugs, and inspect battery, belts, engine filter, coolant)? Is it worth pushing to get this service done under warranty (considering that's about $150 in gas or so)? While I'm at it, is it worthwhile to upgrade the plugs? I am running with a cobb tune, though this is just a daily driver. |

You can't make them do anything that the car is not calling for. There is no upgrade for the plugs, just stick with the oem ones. As for pricing, you can call the dealer and look up the parts cost from many supporting vendors. Also, there is no qoute mileage services. Look in you owners/service manual for service intervals.

My local dealer fudged it and did that service early on my last car (X3). You can always ask.
I'm about to buy a 335i with 44k+; I'm hoping to get it in for something before the full plan ends in February. I'm not entirely sure what it is reading as the next service date, as I haven't seen the car yet (flying out tomorrow). If it is close, the 1,000 mile drive home should help... |

The dealer did my plugs at 45k as well (actually, 47k).
This is one of the weird ones, however. There's documentation showing the N54 plugs should be done at 45K. OTOH, while there is no explicit CBS call for a plug change on the N54, there's other documentation showing it should be done at the same time as the 3rd CBS oil change instead of a fixed mileage point. You need to get your dealer to buy into the mileage based change, but you would have trouble forcing him to if he's not so inclined.

Page nine if the service/warranty book at least for my 09 335. I have had 3 oil changes on my 335 but I only have 8400 miles on the car. They owe me a set of plugs!

Dealer did plugs under maintenance on my 2010 335i at 45k. Maintenance interval for plugs was still mileage based in 2010.
