I assume the battery comes from her being in a position of power (teacher) relative to the student. Its similar to an affair between people of different ranks in the military.

I'm starting to get a little annoyed with this sort of stuff. In my day, you kept your mouth effin shut. Now days it seems like it's a get laid/money grab combo.

The 17 yrs old made his choice. He has gone for it and now maybe she said enough and he threatened her to tell. Who knows? Yeah, I am annoyed too.

Stupid teacher just couldn't resist some young kid. Then that girl came on to say it happens all the time, it's social media gone too far.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that at the time, and probably for no short duration afterwards, this poor, poor soul felt anything BUT victimized or battered.

The whole situation of when the offender is male raises an interesting discussion, and I personally am in a bit of a quandary over that. I guess it comes down to societal norms. A guy going after an older woman, even if he is under his majority and she is over (significantly as the case may be) hasn't really been that big a deal, while the opposite is rather frowned upon over the course of the last 130 odd years.

Oh, I don't disagree at all. The 34-year old lady teacher is very cute, even teen-looking, and probably way better performance-wise than the boys are used to. If I had her all over me when I was in high school, the last people I would have called to tell about her would have been the cops.

I'm just saying: setting aside societal norms and looking just at the fair and equal legal aspect of this, if it's considered OK for an underage boy to high-five his buddies for having sex with the lady teacher, wouldn't it be have to be equally OK for an underage girl to text breathless accolades to her girlfriends about the male teacher she slept with?

In my days at high school, what we did stayed right there. If I had fun with a teacher, why would I get her in legal trouble?

And, yes, I'll admit that I'd have an issue if the male/female were reversed in this instance. Likely because I'm a guy and have a daughter. I remember being a 17 yo wanting to nail older women, but there's no way I'd be OK with my daughter dating an older man while in HS. Just my perspective.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Why are people so stupid to think that this is a crime? Any 17 year old boy would jump at the chance to be "sexually battered" by a hot teacher. Give me a break.
