New OEM brake pads

I'm shopping for new brakes for my E92 335. I've been thinking about ceramic pads to avoid the brake dust I've been dealing for the last 5 years. I know I've read that the newer cars don't have the same brake dust problems the earlier years had becauce the pads were different. Is that really true, and if I were to buy new OEM pads would those be the ones I get? If OEM doesn't still have the dusting problem, that's what I'd probably go with. Tischer seems to have pretty good prices on brake kits.

I have an 07 335i and just replaced the rear brakes with OEM pads and rotors from Tischer. The dust is the same as it used to be. I also just bought my wife a 2013 X5. Brake dust is the same as it ever was. Are you replacing just the pads or pads, rotor and sensor. Tischer packages them up with caliper grease for a decent price.

the part numbers for the new pads should be:

34216790762 (R)

Same here. Practically no dust on my wife's 335is, although I'm sure that the Ferric Gray wheels help hide it a bit. On the M Roadster, so much dust that a 4 mile round trip to the grocery store after a wash and the front wheels are gray and need washing again.

On the 335i you'll want to step away from the genuine pads if you want a lower dusting pad, even the newest version of the pad from BMW is a rather dust pad. The best option would be to go to an aftermarket pad, Hawk HPS pads are our most popular for the 335i, they are a performance upgrade pad that's also going to be very low dusting. Since you're looking at a service kit check otu the ones found HERE, the performance kits utilize Hawk HPS pads, our ECS GEOMET rotors, and ship free inside the continental USA.

I have had excellent luck with Akebono pads and Zimmerman rotors - both on my car and my wife's X3.

I do about a 1000 miles a month & wash the car about once a month. One pic is recently washed front wheel the other front has about a bit over 3 weeks dust on it. Would have added the 330 wheels but all you would see is black after two weeks

The difference between the wheels condition is a bit closer then it looks because the clean wheel is a flash picture while the dirty one is with no flash.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions. I usually try to stick to OEM parts but I think I'm leaning toward trying aftermarket. Lots of choices, but some sound really good.

Orient - Did you new OEM pads replace the old pads, or are they both still available? I'm guessing that if I decided to go OEM I'd have to specifically ask for the new part numbers?

Just an update:
I decided to go with Akebono pads and Zimmerman rotors. I am very happy with the results. The brakes feel a little different, but not in a bad way. It stops really well, and after a few weeks of driving there is zero dust. I wish I would have done this sooner.

Which Akebono pads did you get, and where did you order them from?

I got them both at Auto Parts Warehouse on the 'net. I got the Euro ceramic pads and the coated rotors.

I got my pads from fcpeuro.com, and the rotors from autohausaz.com.
